Unfortunately, these jackets come with a hefty price tag. I've seen jackets priced up at $7,000 (Giorgio Armani), however the starting price for a decent shearling jacket can start at $500. UGG also makes an incredible shearling boot, which is the product that put them on the map. These boots start at $110 and up, but will guarantee your feet and toes stay warm on those cold winter snowy days.

There are different grades of shearling, but grade-A is the best type on the market. Since these jackets are expensive, I always recommend to spend a little extra if need be to make sure it's a high quality jacket you're purchasing. Grade-A quality sheepskin will last longer, look better and definitely feel better when wearing it.

If you don't have the funds available for a high end shearling jacket or even an authentic shearling jacket, then you can still purchase a faux shearling and look great wearing it. Some of the faux shearlings look authentic and will keep you warm as well.

Some of the more well-known brands making faux shearlings are Orvis, Steve Madden and Victoria Secret. They start at $100, although I've seen options for less and of course for more.

Once you make an investment in an authentic shearling coat, it's extremely important you take great care of the coat. It should be cleaned a few times per year, in order to keep its natural color. Too much sun can also change the color and give it a dull appearance. Make sure to use specialty soap and always hand wash with warm water.
