JOB SUMMARY:

 System Test Engineer to contribute to its current system development efforts on an SDH/SONET Optical Network Data Security Device.

The contract System Test Engineer position reports to the Software Manager and is responsible for developing the System Test Plan, equipment budget, manpower estimates, and schedule for the Optical Network Data Security Device. The contract System Test Engineer will review/analyze the project Requirements as well as the Functional and Design Specifications of the system for the purpose of creating a detailed System Test Plan and associated resource requirements. This System Test Plan should specify all required Hardware and Software equipment and tools required to execute this plan. The position requires demonstrated competence with System Testing/Qualification specifically in the area of SDH/SONET networking products. This is a role that requires demonstrated capability to self start and self manage in addition to the specific experience and skills described below.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Contract System Test Engineer tasks include but are not limited to the following:

 

1.                  Write and document the deliverables for appropriate development cycle milestones from, included but not limited to, requirements specification, design, implementation, test, integration, configuration, and release.

2.                  Design and document a System Test Plan based on proper interpretation of the requirements, design, functional and other higher level specifications.

3.                  Design System Test Plan to verify that the 72B system meets all functionality as specified in the Product Requirements Document, Functional Specification, and Design specifications.

4.                  Assist in verifying all required functionality as required by customers is included in the product requirements and specifications.

5.                  Identify all additional Software and Hardware tools and equipment required to build the system test environment.

6.                  Assist the Software development team in the generation and execution of complete and concise unit level test plans and procedures.

7.                  Identify and document all “bugs” found during the execution of the system test plan in  bug tracking system. Documentation should include all the details necessary to reproduce all “bugs” identified.

8.                  Assist the development team as required in the debug of all identified “bugs”.

9.                  Verify all bug fixes and close bugs in the bug tracking system.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

1.      Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, with a minimum of five years of directly applicable experience.

2.      Extensive experience with developing system test plans for SDH/SONET networking equipment.

3.      Experience in the specification and implementation of SDH/SONET network test equipment.

4.      Experience in the application of metrics with respect to measurements of software quality.

5.      Working knowledge of UNIX and UNIX build environments.

6.      Working knowledge of Clear Case tools.

7.      Effective written and verbal communication skills required.

8.      Results-oriented and self-motivated.

9.      Experience with encryption technologies is preferred.
